Hello,
Before starting, I would like to thank William for designating me as a coder, developer, writer and also as an administrator in the forums.
William, as he informed me, coded Anithly in the language : Visual Basic 6.0 which is a so-called redeveloped version of the BASIC Language (The DOS Language). Visual Basic 6.0, or VB6 is no longer supported by Microsoft and it's in their 'non-support phase'. Due to this, no edition of VB6 can work on any version of Windows higher than Windows XP.
I run on a Windows 7 Ultimate computer and I downloaded the VB6 Enterprise Edition yesterday but in vain. The MSDN official website shows that it won't function in Vista, Windows 7 or the newly released Windows 8. The only way a user can make it run is by downloading the DAO350.dll file from some unsafe website. This file can edit the registory causing serious problems to your computer. Also, since it's no more officially supported by Microsoft, there could be some problems later on.
As a remedy to this, I would like to propose a changeover to Visual Basic.NET edition. The .NET version is the newer version and IS STILL SUPPORTED by Microsoft. It has loads of new features and can be viewed as an evolution of the classic Visual Basic (VB). Microsoft currently supplies two major implementations of Visual Basic: Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, which is commercial software and Visual Basic Express Edition 2010, which is free of charge.
Software Requirements
Visual Studio 2010 can be installed on the following operating systems:
Windows XP (x86) with Service Pack 3 - all editions except Starter Edition
Windows Vista (x86 & x64) with Service Pack 2 - all editions except Starter Edition
Windows 7 (x86 & x64)
Windows Server 2003 (x86 & x64) with Service Pack 2
Windows Server 2003 R2 (x86 & x64)
Windows Server 2008 (x86 & x64) with Service Pack 2
Windows Server 2008 R2 (x64)
Supported Architectures:
32-Bit (x86)
64-Bit (x64)
Hardware Requirements
Computer that has a 1.6GHz or faster processor
1 GB (32 Bit) or 2 GB (64 Bit) RAM (Add 512 MB if running in a virtual machine)
3GB of available hard disk space
DirectX 9 capable video card running at 1024 x 768 or higher-resolution display
DVD-ROM Drive
_______________
As stated above, VB.NET can run on multiple operating systems with sources saying that it'll soon be made compatible for Windows 8 too. Also, since it's still supported by Microsoft, they'll release updates and atleast apps running on .NET will not become dormant.
Conversion from VB6.0 to VB.NET
This will be a momentous task for us, developers. There is no 'click-and-done' tool for converting the code from VB6 to VB.NET. So, we'll have to re-write the code. But, this will not be a very-difficult task for us since we already have the code, graphics, pictures, etc ready with us. If this proposal is approved, I'm plannning to get Anithly converted into VB.NET before we enter the 'beta' phase.

Other than that, I've already thought of making a twitter and facebook page for Anithly as we progress. I'm also working on a few graphics-related stuff, which I'll be showing to Bronwyn.
I hope, you'll accept this proposal so we can secure the future of this wonderful game! Please read the next post below for FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions).
Thank You,
